Wooledge is a nod to England, where June Cashmere's yarn is milled, and is a rare surname derived from old English ‘wood’ and ‘clearing or meadow’. A woodland clearing can be a naturally occurring meadow area in the woods where sunlight reaches, inviting wildflowers and grasses to grow as a vital feeding spot for creatures.
A woodland clearing is a site of peace and calm, and all those notions are what designer, Amy Swanson, wanted this scarf to invoke: sunlight (warmth in wearing), growth (in making skills) and a sense of peace and calm (not to mention accomplishment) that comes from creating and wearing what you make.
Wooledge Scarf is knit flat from end to end in 5 x 5 cables (3 cables on the front and 2 cables on the back) to make a reversible scarf. Edges are knit in garter stitch.
