The vest is worked flat from the bottom up. Armholes and a rounded neckline are shaped with bind-off stitches. Short rows shape the back neck and shoulders, and shoulder seams are connected using a three-needle bind-off. Before seaming the sides, picked-up twisted ribbing is added to the neck and armhole edges. At the hem, the twisted rib continues up the center back for a decorative motif. The button band is knit at the same time as the vest body, with buttons and buttonholes arranged in elegant pairs down the front.

The finished full chest/body circumference is designed to have approximately 2”/5 cm of ease across all sizes. The fit between armholes (cross-chest) should match or be slightly less than your actual cross-front measurement. Armhole shaping takes you from finished body measurement to the finished cross-chest measurement. Choose the size or blend of sizes that match your measurements (e.g., full chest + 2”/5cm ease; cross-chest – actual measurement). Pattern schematic gives finished dimensions.
